Zambia is a bucket list destination for many travellers, and it’s not hard to see why!

Possessed of jaw dropping natural beauty and national parks brimming with wildlife, Zambia is a “once in a lifetime” destination.

When planning a trip to Zambia, it can be hard to know where to start and most end up with a jam packed itinerary.

A trip to Zambia would not be complete without visiting Victoria Falls.  These falls, on the Zambesi River which forms the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe are nothing short of breathtaking.  Plunging 108m into narrow Batoka Gorge, Victoria Falls showcases nature at its best.  Make sure you witness this Unesco World Heritage Site from Victoria Falls Bridge which offers a truly spectacular view.

National parks abound in Zambia and tourists are spoilt for choice.  South Luangwa National Park has been referred to as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world and it’s hard to disagree.  This park covers 9059 square kilometres and hosts a vast array of flora and fauna.  Here you can see 60 different animal species and more than 400 bird species.  Sadly, you wont be able to see a rhino as they have been poached to extinction.

Although Zambia is land-locked, it is home to Lake Tanganyika – the world’s longest fresh water lake and second deepest.  Second only to Lake Baikal in Russia, Lake Tanganyika reaches to a depth of 1433m.

Animal and nature lovers are well catered for in Zambia but so too are adrenaline junkies.  Whether it be game reserves / safaris, white water rafting, zip lining, jet boating or kayaking, there are plenty of activities on offer for those who are seeking adventure.

There is so much more to Zambia though and it boasts a diverse and rich culture in which to immerse yourself.  Be sure to allow plenty of time to experience the magic that Zambia has to offer.
