So what are the Top Travel Destinations in Australia?

Trip Advisor recently conducted the Travellers Choice 2013 destinations survey and found that Sydney was the number one choice for travellers in 2013. Sydney Harbour Bridge was the most popular tourist attraction followed by the Opera House and Sydney Harbour. Melbourne was the next most popular with the Royal Botanic Gardens being a favourite.  The MCG Melbourne Cricket Ground and the National Gallery of Victoria also proving to be popular tourist destinations.

Cairns in North Queensland stepped in at third position with the Botanic Gardens, the Tablelands Waterfalls and Spanish Castle proving to be popular along with the Great Barrier Reef.

Perth came in fourth , Kings Park and the Botanic Gardens, Cottesloe Beach and Penguin Island all popular.

Brisbane rounded out the top five. Being Australia’s third-largest city, Southbank Parklands was popular along with the Botanic Gardens, Mount Cootha Gardens and the Lone Pine koala sanctuary.

Surfers Paradise ranked sixth. Gold Coast beaches proving a great attraction for families together with hot air balloon rides and Sky Point.

An hour’s drive south of Surfers Paradise sees Byron Bay come in at seventh – Cape Byron lighthouse showing the way and mountain bike day tours being popular.

Back up to North Queensland and Port Douglas chimed in eighth position with star attractions being 4 Mile Beach, wildlife habitats and fabulous beaches.

Adelaide came in ninth position with the Adelaide Botanic Gardens the River Torrens linear park trail and the Cleland wildlife Park great tourist attractions.

Hobart rounded out the top 10 with Mount Wellington and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens on visitors lists.
