The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has experienced a rise in its tourism industry after its independence in 1972.

It is comprised of seven states. Among them, Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the most visited by tourists.

The UAE is known for its wide desert landscapes and safaris. Exploring the desert by riding off-road vehicles is a popular tourist activity throughout the year.

For tourists who do not want to experience the extreme heat in a barren area, there are also several other things to do in the UAE that do not involve going to the desert. The Persian Gulf is a beautiful sight to see and beaches along the UAE coastline are the perfect spot for rest and relaxation. People can also enjoy a number of water activities such as kayaking, sailing, diving, fishing and jet skiing.

Boat cruises are also available and tourists have the option to go on a whole day tour or a short trip across the famous Dubai Creek. Several boat options are offered such as ferries, yachts and traditional dhow ships.

In Dubai, you will find the world’s tallest building – the Burj Khalifa. Other must-see spots include the Burj Al Arab and the Atlantis resort. In the downtown area, several high-end malls can be found; one even has an aquarium in it. In the middle of the downtown, you can witness a fountain show that is similar to that in Las Vegas.

Abu Dhabi is quite different from Dubai. Here, tourists can experience UAE’s Islamic culture by visiting mosques. In its deserts, tourists can try riding a hot air balloon or sandboarding.

One of the main struggles tourists encounter in the UAE is the extreme heat. The months of July and August are the warmest, but it is during this season when hotels are at cheaper rates. Cooler temperatures are experienced during the months of October to April, but hotel rates are much higher. If you are used to dealing with the heat, you can enjoy good rates by visiting during the summer.
