In most cases the information we collect is provided by you — for example, when you obtain a quotation for insurance or lodge a claim. By providing this information you consent to its collection, storage, use and disclosure as set out in this policy. Occasionally, we will obtain information about you from other sources, such as our emergency medical assistance team, hospitals and medical practitioners, or other insurers.

The personal information we collect can be used or disclosed for any purpose connected to these activities, but only where you would reasonably expect this to occur.

If you make a claim against your policy, Go Insurance (or our agents) may also disclose your personal information to:

An investigator, assessor, government authority, medical practitioner, hospital or other professional adviser — to help investigate and assess your claim
A recovery agent — to recover our costs
A lawyer — to defend an action brought against you by a third party
A witness — to obtain a witness statement
Another party in a claim — to obtain a statement or seek recovery from them

In some instances we will need to send your personal information overseas, or collect it from overseas. These instances may include:

Your personal information may be stored in a range of ways, including computer systems and databases, hard-copy or paper files, and telephone recordings.

Go Insurance strives to protect the privacy and security of your personal information, maintaining industry-standard technology and procedures for information management and our online services. Once received, your information is protected by security controls including firewalls, user identification requirements and audit trails.

We run an ongoing review and enhancement program covering our policies, processes and procedures, as well as technology reviews of software, virus protection and firewall settings. Our IT systems and infrastructure are regularly audited by internal and external experts.

You must provide us with whatever information we reasonably require to assess your application for insurance, manage any policy we issue to you, and assess any claim you make. If you do not provide the personal information we have reasonably requested, we may not be able to provide you with a policy or manage and settle any claims you make against it.

Where you provide personal information about other individuals, you must make them aware that you will provide this information to us; the types of persons and entities to which it will be available; and the purposes for which we, and those to whom we disclose it, will use it. You must also make them aware that they can access the information we receive from you.
